The Journalist
After winning first place in a nationwide student contest organized by the Ministry of Education for the best feature story, Sawsan persisted with her passion and went on to become Bahrain’s youngest journalist at only 16 years of age when she joined AlWaqt newspaper and has been steadily navigating the media and communication landscape ever since.
Upon earning her BS in Mass Communication and Arabic Language, she achieved nationwide recognition in her early 20s working as a journalist, interviewing a panoply of high-profile experts and reporting on current affairs.
Sawsan's journalistic experience encompasses everything from in-depth interviews and breaking news to feature writing and human-interest stories, including an exclusive feature story documenting her visit to Jordan’s Al Zaatari Syrian Refugee Camp in 2012 to cover the opening of Bahrain’s School on site.
The Voice Artist
Over the past few years, Sawsan built recognition as a voice-over artist. She is known to be the official Arabic voice of Bahrain's national carrier Gulf Air flights since 2014, and has lent her voice to ad campaigns and IVRs for a panoply of clients in the region.
Her distinctive voice has also been featured in national advertisements pertaining to government entities such as Bahrain’s Information & eGovernment Authority, the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority of Bahrain and the Ministry of Health’s national Public Awareness Campaign to Combat Coronavirus.
The Master of Ceremony
Since her childhood, the microphone has always been Sawsan’s best friend. As a professional Master of Ceremony, she draws upon her extensive journalism, television, and voice-over experience to capture the audience’s attention across different types of events, including high-level ones in the presence of HRH Shaikh Nasser Bin Hamad Al Khalifa, and H.E. Shaikh Khalid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa Deputy Prime Minister of Bahrain.
With her soothing voice and natural public speaking ability, she is able to deliver speeches in a subtle and friendly manner, making her listeners feel at home. Confidently in command of her craft, she is quick to adapt to live developments and unexpected situations.
The Presenter
Sawsan worked as a news correspondent for the Saudi TV channel Al Ekhbariya, reporting on major political events such as the 37th GCC Summit. Two years later, she was chosen by Bahraini company Tadawul Real Estate to present an online Ramadan competition show featuring weekly cash prizes, which went viral on social media.
On the other hand, Sawsan moderated an inspirational talk with the Bahraini Minister of Youth and Sport Affairs, in addition to moderating webinars on different topics.
Combining her strengths as both an accomplished producer and talented presenter, she is able to create and deliver quality content that genuinely connects with the viewer.
The Producer
Sawsan started off as a segment producer and scriptwriter for several programs on Bahrain TV, from morning shows to entertainment and sports programs.
Prior to her graduation, she produced her first documentary film chronicling the life of His Excellency Nabeel Al Hamer, Advisor of Media Affairs for His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, besides writing and narrating the script.
Her second film titled Fakhar [Pride] was released in 2017 at the official Bahraini Women's Day ceremony organized by the Supreme Council for Women. The film follows a 3-month youth contest rewarding the best monument design embodying Bahraini women empowerment under the official Bahraini Women’s Day 2017 theme: Women in the Engineering Field.
The Author
Sawsan published an inspirational book titled The Soft Strength in collaboration with the Council of Arab Businesswomen, highlighting the success stories of 38 Arab businesswomen and their valuable contributions to their respective countries.
